We visited hotel southern on Jan 20-22 of 2025. , with family and 2 kids. Aged 7 and 10. We took the family suite. We read the reviews posted earlier and were sceptical but since my parents had insisted upon their experience , we decided to stay here. The room was nice and clean. There were two single beds for the kids and one double bed for us. Not much walk around space after that., but we needed that sleep space after a tiresome day of travel. The bathrooms were clean and had hot water whenever we needed . The linen and supplies were to our satisfaction. The breakfast spread was good for southindians. There was parantha and bread as well. We booked our delhi local tours from them for a very reasonable price. Everything was smooth and good. I totally recommend this .It's a very old hotel , with room very close by but decently maintained and the rooms being close by didn't cause any issue for us.

PATHETIC HOTEL AVOID AT ALL COSTS

I used to stay in this hotel 30 years ago and based on their website assurance that the property is in good shape and having a lot of nostalgia from the past, I suggested this place to my family and it is a decision I deeply regret. We booked the family suite and it was in the old complex and it was in a pathetic state, the water bottles supplied (glass bottles) were dirty inside and under the cap (never cleaned); mattress and bedsheets were dirty and stained (red and what seemed like menstrual blood), and the mattress springs were poking our backs; we asked for a change of room immediately in the new block (so called) and we were shown a few rooms. Rooms on 2nd Floor smelled of cigarette and their staff were occupying one of the room and smoking with the doors open; when I questioned the guy who was showing me the rooms on how they allow this, he said there is nothing he can do about it. As there were no rooms available as what we had booked; we reluctantly took two rooms in Floor 1 of new block and had to pay an additional Rs. 4000 just for a few hours of sleep (we checked out 5 am the next morning). They were prompt to ask for the money before even apologizing for the poor shape of their rooms. Again one of the room smelled of sewer and after multiple complaints and threatening to leave, the finally sent a maintenance guy and all he had to do was turn on the master exhaust and the smell was gone in a few minutes. They let us suffer all the time because they wanted to not turn on the exhaust ! The second room, the AC was weak and hardly was cooling, we slept just with the fan on. I usually refrain from negative reviews as I know it impacts someone's business; but this hotel, that used to be my favorite in Delhi; is now not fit for humans and I cannot let another person suffer due to all their false promises on their websites and the other reviews online (most of which must be fake) hence this honest review. I am posting a video I took showing how dirty it was under our bed; in addition to all the filth and mold you can see a cigarette and a beedi under the bed. Please don't chose this place unless you have a death-wish.

Rooms- Room we booked through the customer service wasn’t given to us. They keep changing what they say and need to have a written proof. Room was pathetic Private tour Travels - the travel office next to the hotel doesn’t have any clue on what they do. We booked the private tours for 2 days for 7 passengers and the car they gave couldn’t accommodate. I have a email stating all these info and they complain that we have informed only 4 passengers. Restaurant- the free morning breakfast is a disaster. The dishes they provide is pathetic and especially the sambar is a hot water. Location - it’s a pretty good location but not for foreigners.

I am unhappy with service, for below issues i) Being a 3 star big hotel, there was no shoe shiner, comb, hair oil, bathroom slippers provided. Usually these are provided by mid size hotels. ii) Breakfast didn’t have cut fruits, and no live counter. Very limited variety. iii) Dinner was included but no soup, and only limited quantity was given. iv) The staff at restaurant was not polite at all. v) No hand towel was given. vi) Room was not cleaned even at 4.00 pm in evening. The tea cups were also unclean.
